Aloe Vera; The Great and Powerful



Aloe Vera is a plant that is well known for its healing properties. It has been depicted back in early Egyptian time about 6000 years ago, where the plant has been found in wall carvings. It was known as the “plant of immortality”, because of which it was presented to the deceased pharaoh.

Topically it has been used for its healing properties, various skin conditions and laxative. Today, it is being employed in major industries including, herbicide, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, Mathai etc. Food drug administration (FDA) has approved aloe Vera as a good flavoring agent. It is being used as a major constituent of various lotions, scrubs, moisturizing crèmes or even sun blocks.

Of all herbs found in kitchen aloe is considered to be richest in healing burns, scars or rash. It can be easily cultivated at home, by putting it in a sunny warm spot which has good drainage properties.

Aloe in beauty and medicine:

Aloe as after shave:


Fresh aloe gel from the plant can be directly applied on the face after shaving. It heals the razors burns, cuts without turning it into scars.

Aloe and skin glow:

Applying aloe directly to the whole face, reduces blemishes. It gives baby soft, smooth skin. If you drink 10ml of aloe daily, it helps to cleanse the body. If you mix 2 tbsp. of aloe with mint leaves and tulsi leaves. Make a paste and apply on face. It will leave glowing effect on your skin.

Aloe for dry skin:

Mix 2 tbsp. of aloe with honey and china clay. Mix the whole mixture and apply it on your face. Leave it for 15-20 minutes. Let it dry and wash off with Luke warm water. It will not only give soothing effect but will moisturize it.

Aloe for oily skin:

Take 1 tbsp. of Aloe Vera gel with 1 tbsp. of fuller’s Earth and 2 drops of witch hazel. Mix it well and apply it on face. Wash off when dry. It will remove excess oil and helps to close all open pores.

Aloe for acne:


Applying aloe on acne area, helps to remove it. Diminishes the bacteria causing acne. It removes dead cells and clears the oil that clogs the pores. It also helps to reduce the scar that forms due to acne.

Aloe as sunscreen:

Aloe helps against UVA and UVB rays from sun. UVA rays causes premature aging and UVB causes skin darkening and sun burn. Take aloe pulp and mix 2tspn of turmeric powder. Apply it on face and leave it till dry. It reduces oil, removes sun burn and tan.

Aloe for hair radiance:

Aloe works wonders on hairs. Mix aloe with yogurt and apply it on your hair. Leave it for 1 hour before taking bath. Wash it off properly with a good shampoo. It will produce lustrous, healthy and bouncy hair.
