To worry or not to worry

Worrying about things we cannot change is a terrible waste of energy. Simply worrying is not going to keep problems at bay. Problems and challenges are part of life. Worry/fear is the result of the inborn conflict between the biological programming in us humans for survival and the undeniable inevitability of our mortality.
We live in an era of complexity and uncertainty which makes existence more difficult than it is meant to be. The solution is to move from worry to creative anxiety which is to say that instead of remaining focused on the problem, we become attentive to finding options and possible solutions. We need to bust the false urgency that worry creates, identify it and make plans to find ways out.
Acknowledging the impossibity of instant or overnight solutions helps us slowly but surely build stages towards our freedom from whatever is plaguing us. Setting short-term goals and accomplishing them brings self-confidence and optimism that equip us for the big fight. Trying to win it all in one go brings disappointment and pessimism. We must allow ourselves to be imperfect and rather than beating up on ourselves for the lacks and perceived blunders, see our mistakes as wisdom resources that instruct us in better choices in the future.
Last but not least we learn to practice true submission. Tomorrow belongs to God so let us hand over all the potentials, possibilities, burdens, perils and future circumstances to Him. Can there be a better custodian and guardian than the One? Ours is to submit to His will and His is to take care of the rest.
